Full list of Nominees and Winners

Seriously. We already know this. But every year we just let it slide. Ridiculous. I’ll say this first. Avatar is an awesome movie. We all love it. Fucking fantastic film. Were there things that could have been better? Of course. Maybe give the animals a little more personality. Maybe it wasn't the most ORIGONAL movie ever. Maybe the Na’Vi accepted an outsider too quickly. Sure these are all things we can nit pick until we are blue in the face (heh, blue) but lets just be honest here. The dialogue in the movie was so fucking terrible that it felt like I was watching a student film on Vietnam. If I ever hear “I didn’t sign up for this shit” ever again I am going to barf. So although ‘Avatar’ made me feel like a giddy kid again, and is taking a solid place as one of my favorite movies, I understand that I like it inspite of all of its flaws. So is it the best  movie of the year? No. Is it the funnest? Maybe.

Best Director going to Cameron? Sure, I can get behind that. He made a gimmick like 3D work without shoving it down our throats (I am looking at you ‘My Bloody Valentine’) and the motion cap was pretty phenomenal (Big ups to Zoe Saladana. You deserve an award). But Best Picture? No. That should be reserved for ‘Up In the Air’ or ‘Precious’.

Sandra Bullock getting best actress almost gave me a hernia. I will say this, she was fantastic in the Blind Side (A good movie ruined by terrible directing) But literally everyone in that category aside from her gave a PERFECT performance. Emily Blunt’s role in the queen was spectacular. Gabourey in Precious? Heart wrenching. Helen Mirren in anything? Awesome. Hell I don’t even really like Carey Mulligan and she acted the shit out of An education. They were robbed.

I am thrilled that Waltz took home the Globe for Basterds, he acted the shit outta that movie. And Mo’nique winning for ‘Precious’? Hella well deserved.  Up should not have won best Animated (Coraline or Fantastic Mr. Fox anyone?) or best score (Where the Wild Things Are should have won). Michael Emerson should have won best actor for ‘Lost’. I stand by that.

I am mostly happy with the rest of the picks, but these standouts were the most notable.
