Mo Money for Mo Popular Songs? …I’m Down!

So I am a big fan of the Zune Marketplace, the big reason is you have that social aspect of it. Showing the influence for the music you like as well as similar artists is a great way to strengthen your musical roots. As well as sharing with other users is a great way to discover new music. And an “all-you-can-eat” pricing structure (for 15 bucks you can download whatevs) makes people not play safe and try new and interesting things. That was the problem with iTunes, everything cost the same, thus, usually the new popular things would get downloaded whereas the cooler more obscure stuff was rarely risked on.

  That’s changing.

On April 7th the more popular content will take a price bump and the less popular stuff will get a price drop. I really hope this motivates users to try new and different things for less money instead of downloading some Flo-Rida travesty. Free your musical minds people.
