It’s worse than it sounds. Slumdog Millionaire, which won around 16 billion Oscars, (give or take) had its title theme “Jai Ho” redone for English audiences by… PUSSYCAT DOLLS! Because when it comes to a story of hardship, overcoming challenges, and the plight of India, who represents better than the people who brought you “Don’t Cha”? When I think of critical thinkers on the burden of impoverished countries, immediately my mind goes to “When I Grow Up.”
Fuck Me.
I guess if 3-6 Mafia can win an Oscar for best song, it isn’t too far off to think that PCD could be handed the reigns to The Best Song For a Motion Picture for 2009. And you can tell that PCD has lots of respect for the source material, calling it “Jay Hoh” instead of “Jai Ho” and setting it in, wait for it, a CHINESE MARKET PLACE. Seriously. Now girls, India is in Asia, but china is a lil farther east. Close though.
Check out the promo video for making the worst insult to the Indian people since Ghandi was shot.
