Before I get into anything, let me say this. FUCK WINNIW THE POOH! That fat fuck is the reason so many kids are obese. And Christopher Robin is the reason why most of my friends are gay.
Aighhhhhht Moving on, some may remember the awesome yet quirky band “The Matches.” I saw them open for Yellowcard a few years back and me and my buddy Cool Iain met the drummer as he was hawking CDs outside the show and got him to sign a copy for us. The first album they did “E.Von Dahl Killed the Locals” was so different and crazy and sporadic. I loved listening to that album because it was so crazy and fun.
Now i know that this type of music isn’t for anyone. I feel there is an art to the type of jittery off kilter music that the Matches make. They do make the average pop punk songs as well, but I think their real strength is taking that pop punk vibe and tear through it with crazy lyrics, bouncy guitar riffs and odd music samples.
I have been so out of it, I missed the release of their latest album “A Ban in Hope” but I lined up some really cool videos from The Matches Softmore effort, “Decomposer” (Which was co-produced by Mark Hoppus). They are pretty clever videos, so even if you don’t dig the music you can appreciate the music videos.
Until Next Time I Remain… Your Perfect Match.
